The Book of Blizender: Chapter 2

So I backed off from these two orcs to get some space to work some magic, literally... but the she-orc (shorc?) came up and smashed the leshy before I could get a spell off, but the dwarf, alchemist by the look of the vials dangling about his person, mixed up a concoction and patched the plant.

Which brings the other orc, after barking something in their guttural tongue, up to attempt to hurt this dwarf, who narrowly dodges the blow.  So maybe they're not mooks, as that sounded like a, "Hey, we got a badass sorcerer and friends" comment.  That distraction was enough though for me to unleash the Dragon's Breath spell, channeling a little extra energy to not freeze my new ally.  Of course, it worked to perfection, causing both of them to enter the cold embrace of the grave already chilled.

Then the mooks he must've summoned came around the corner, 5 of them bunched all together so pretty, so a Dragon's Breath for them, three of them fully succumb, one of which seemed to only catch a little bit, and the last protected by frosted bodies of his friends didn't seem affected.

Which is fine, because the meat shield and the dwarf could run clean up while the leshy finished healing herself. Afterwards I head straight to the bosses to see if they had anything worth keeping, and lo and behold, shorc had a potion of invisibility and a shield cloak... armor that doesn't affect my casting is rare, so I quickly claimed my rights to both before these new friends could attempt to infringe my rights.  Quick introductions were made, Krado the meaty human, Thid the dwarf alchemist, and Spike Lee... a leshy druid of all things.

They looked exhausted, so I showed them I was versatile with my magics and granted them some Relief.  Their thanks was palpable, and Thid handed me some scrolls he was holding onto, some basic Attendant Summon Allies, and a PUPPET! This spell is well above my usual capabilities, so it will be saved for a special enemy... maybe the lead giant.

They explain they've been tasked with rescuing people from this quarter and to light beacons, and I tell them what I heard from the guard who were rushing to find the giant... Thid matches my enthusiasm, which is nice, and we continue onward. Heading to a small copse of trees that are burning, and out walks another shorc, but this one has pet wolves, she says something I can only assume means, kill the small folk, and she rushes after Thid.

The wolves come in hot after myself and Spike, but thankfully we evade most damage.  Aggravated by this I channel as much energy as I can muster to freeze all of their bones, while keeping myself and Spike free of the magic, I feel the magic do its thing, but not strong enough to keep the wolves from hurting me as I move away, so I try to push a little more, and I pushed too hard, and the backlash of the spell chills my bones, is this what I do to people?! I'm a monster...

Krado rushes in and starts taking down the wolf mother, Spike and I handle the wolves around us, while ducking bites left and right, her with a scythe, me with my claws, and Thid cleans up with a warhammer he found, muttering something about how bashing is right... I have no clue what he means by that. A quick patch up of our wounds and a discussion of healing potions, as I pull one from the shorc wolf mother... and we hear horns outside the gate to the west... still work to be done.
